We are looking for a Security Supervisor for the Chances Casino in Prince Rupert, BC. The Security Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the activities of the security shift which provides safety and protects all patrons, employees, and company assets. You will review staffing levels to maintain full coverage of posts, delegate authority and assign responsibilities. You will often investigate incidents and/or customer complaints and compile data for accurate reporting.
We’re looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience in security, who is able to work 40 hours a week across a mix of day, evening, and weekend shifts. The Security Supervisor also needs to be available to work holidays.
This position is comprised of about 50% security work, 25% supervisory work, 20% reporting work, and 5% customer service work.
Our Security Supervisor needs to be able perform security and safety tasks such as patrolling, monitoring physical access points, reviewing surveillance footage, and managing underage, intoxicated, and suspicious persons. The ability and willingness to exercise crowd control and defuse potentially volatile situations is also necessary. As a result, we’re looking for someone with Appropriate Response Training Level 1 and 2, who can work independently, use good judgment, and prioritize with little to no direction.
As a supervisor, you will need to be able to coach staff, manage the security departments staffing, track attendance, exemplify proper grooming and dress code, onboard and train new security employees, and monitor and manage the security shift. As such, we’re looking for someone with strong communication and leadership skills.
The Security Supervisor needs to be able to complete reports, and so requires strong written English skills, including proper grammar and spelling. Reports include end of shift, accident, and incident reports as well as reports of suspicious activity, Voluntary Self Exclusions, and unattended children. The Security Supervisor also needs to be able to navigate the iTrak system.
This role is customer-facing, and requires some customer service skills, including an ability to greet and acknowledge guests, build a working relationship with internal and external guests, and assist with awareness and promotion of Company promotions.
The successful candidate for this role will need to have a High School Diploma or GED certificate, be able to pass a criminal record check with the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB), have Anti-Money Laundering training, and preferably, have a Gaming Security Officer License.
Duties
- Security (50% - percentage of employee’s time devoted to this duty)
- Maintains safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel
- Monitor the physical access control for the facility verifying authorization and issuing visitor and employee access badges
- Complete patron I.D checks
- Review surveillance footage when requested
- Identify underage persons, intoxicated persons, and suspicious persons and/or activity
- Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers
- Defuse potentially volatile situations and intervene when necessary
- Observe and report violations relative to regulatory and/or house policy and procedure
- Perform escort duties consistent with policy and procedure
- Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property
- Work in compliance with internal controls, company policies and procedures and/or BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) policies and procedures
- Provide professional interaction and cooperation with internal (various departments) and external (law enforcement agencies)
- Observe and report any hazardous, dangerous, or unsafe conditions that may cause injury to guests and/or employees
- Responds to all emergencies such as fire, injuries, property damage, etc.; investigates and completes reports concerning the same
- Other duties as assigned by Security Supervisor, Security Manager, General Manager
Supervisor (25% - percentage of employee’s time devoted to this duty)
- Coach staff on policy and procedures, report infractions to Security Manager
- Ensure Security Department is fully staffed, calling in replacements when needed
- Track attendance and reporting infractions to Security Manager
- Exemplify proper grooming and the dress code
- Onboard, train, and report progress of new security employees
- Lead the team in a professional, constructive, and supportive environment for all Casino staff with an attention to open communication and a team concept
- Complete Voluntary Self Exclusion application with patrons per policy and procedure
- Supervise daily activities of security guards ensuring completion of assigned duties
- Facilitate daily shift brief with security staff once per shift
- Complete and email end of shift reports
- Maintain communication between shifts
- Review accident and incident reports ensuring file is completed by end of day by all parties involved
Reporting (20% - percentage of employee’s time devoted to this duty)
- Complete accident and incident reports, which accurately reflect the events, participants, location, and time, of events, which involve patrons, employees, property, and assets of the Chances Prince Rupert in a concise and professional format
- Navigate iTrak system; search subject profiles, complete supplemental reports etc
- Ensure all notebooks, reports and BCLC, GPEB logs and forms are up to date, accurate and concise
- Report any suspicious or criminal activity, suspicious persons, Voluntary Self Exclusions, or unattended children
Customer Service (5% - percentage of employee’s time devoted to this duty)
- Greets, welcomes, and acknowledges guests in a professional Manner
- Accepts logs and stores all lost and found articles
- Building strong working relationships with internal and external guests
- Assist with awareness of and excitement for on-going and up-coming Company promotions
- Participate in a professional, constructive, and supportive environment for all Casino staff with an attention to open communication and a team concept
Qualifications
- Must be 19+
- Appropriate Response Training Level 1 and 2
- Anti-Money Laundering
- Gaming Security Officer License: preferred
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate required
- The ability to successfully complete a criminal record through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB)
- 1-3 years security experience, preferably in the gaming industry
- Able to use proper grammar and spelling to compose reports
- Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written instructions
- Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance always
- Ability to work days, evenings, weekend, and holidays
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform well under pressure
- Experience managing highly confidential information with discretion and care
- Ability to work independently, uses good judgment, and prioritizes with little direction
